Job summary

Louisiana State University is seeking an Academic Counselor 2 to provide academic advising for students in the Ogden Honors College and to coordinate events and programmatic support to promote retention. You will advise on admissions, course requirements, and degree plans, while developing workshops and supporting orientation activities.

The role collaborates with the Director for Advising and Enrollment Management and requires FERPA compliance and strong tracking of student records.

Qualifications

• Bachelords degree and 1 year of experience in counseling or advising.
• Mastera0s degree preferred for advanced roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual academic counseling concerning admissions, course requirements, graduation requirements, scholastic requirements, and academic issues.
• Advise on the undergraduate curriculum appropriate to an Honors collegiate education.
• Provide general career counseling for individual students including discussion of values, philosophy, and life goals and career information and testing.
• Develop and deliver workshops, information sessions, and other events according to advising goals in coordination with student services personnel and student support organizations.
• Plans and participates in registration, pre-registration, and other special programs including orientation for students.
• Coordinates special events such as orientation and the certification of degree candidates for the college.
• Produce digital and print resources for the academic and developmental support of Ogden Honors College students.
• Represents the college/department at university functions at high schools, community events, college/university committees, joint programs, and professional meetings and activities.
• Utilize and maintain identification and tracking resources to support student development.
• Maintain individual student advising records.
• Assist with recruiting efforts.
