Job Summary
The Honors Advisor provides comprehensive programmatic advising to students enrolled in the program, supporting them in developing educational goals and taking the necessary steps to achieve timely degree completion. Serving as an expert on Old Dominion University’s honors program requirements, the advisor meets with a diverse student population individually and in groups to guide course selection and registration, resolve academic or administrative issues, explore educational and career pathways, and connect students with appropriate campus resources.
The advisor monitors academic progress, conducts individualized outreach to students experiencing academic difficulty, implements data‑driven retention initiatives, and maintains accurate advising records while adhering to Honors College and university policies. Additionally, this role supports student success initiatives by participating in campus events, orientations, and programming; engages in ongoing training and professional development; collaborates with faculty and campus partners; contributes to professional organizations such as NACADA ; and performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of the Perry Honors College.
