Job summary

Staffing Solutions of Hawaii is seeking a Director of Engineering in Honolulu to lead engineering and maintenance across a large resort portfolio. You will manage HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and building systems while directing the team, scheduling, and preventive maintenance programs.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in engineering leadership within hospitality, with strong budget, project, and labor relations skills; Hawaiʻi residency or relocation plans are required.

Qualifications

• Experience managing budgets, capital projects, renovations and PM programs.
• Experience with union-represented teams preferred.
• Hawaiʻi resort experience preferred.
• Experience with multi-tower or large-scale resorts (200+ rooms) preferred.
• Hotel renovation/opening experience is a strong plus.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life-safety, and building systems.
• Certifications (CPO, LEED, PMP) desirable but not required.
• Tagalog fluency is a plus.
• Must reside in Hawaiʻi or have relocation plans (no relocation aid).

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee engineering and maintenance operations (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, building systems).
• Provide hands-on, visible leadership to the engineering team; manage scheduling, training, performance.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Oversee capital improvement, renovation, construction projects end-to-end.
• Manage budgets, expenses, forecasting, and financial performance.
• Coordinate operations across multiple towers and facilities in a large resort.
• Respond to maintenance issues and 24/7 emergencies calmly and decisively.
• Collaborate with ownership, HOA, management, vendors and other departments.
• Maintain positive labor relations with union-represented staff.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, building, and life-safety rules.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability, guest experience, and property performance.
• Provide long-term leadership for team development and advancement.
