Job summary

Hawaii Employers’ Mutual Insurance Company in Honolulu, HI is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our in-office Finance & Accounting team. The role focuses on pricing, reserving, forecasting, and operational performance, collaborating with Milliman actuaries and business leaders.

You will build dashboards, analyze data, support rate filings with the Hawaii Insurance Division, and develop insights to support strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or Business-related field.
• 3-5+ years of relevant experience, preferred.
• Experience in financial modeling, planning, and analysis using Excel and/or other reporting tools.
• Experience developing dashboards and reporting in Power BI or equivalent applications, preferred.
• Excellent math and analytical skills, as well as superior spreadsheet and database skills.
• Experience working in the insurance or financial services industry, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Extract and analyze HEMIC data to develop forecasting and trend analyses, communicate performance with dashboards.
• Prepare annual rate filing process and rate adequacy analyses; support Underwriting/Sales and provide tier analyses.
• Collaborate with Milliman actuaries to analyze loss development and reserves; answer questions on results.
• Partner with Underwriting and Claims to learn processes and enable deep research on trends.
• Become a subject matter expert in HEMIC data, data sources, and architecture.
• Build and enhance analytical dashboards; consult with leaders to improve KPI tracking.
• Support data-driven culture with demos, training, and trend research; assist new lines of business.
• Other duties as assigned.
