Job summary

Habitat for Humanity of Omaha is seeking a Homeownership Housing Counselor – Short-Term Services to provide personalized counseling and financial coaching. You’ll work with clients toward mortgage readiness and help them navigate the homebuying process.

Responsibilities include assessments, action planning, and coordination with mortgage teams and community partners to support timely goals and positive client outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree preferred; combination of education and experience considered.
• 1–3 years of housing counseling, mortgage lending, banking or financial coaching.
• Experience with diverse clients and providing individualized support preferred.
• HUD housing counseling experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one housing counseling to prospective homebuyers pursuing short-term goals.
• Assess income, expenses, debt, credit, savings, and mortgage readiness.
• Create personalized action plans to reach homeownership within ~12 months.
• Conduct follow-up sessions to monitor progress and update plans as needed.
• Guide clients through barriers to mortgage qualification and homeownership.
