Horizons in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Housing & Financial Wellness Counselor for both full-time and part-time roles. The role centers on helping individuals and families build financial stability, prepare for homeownership, and navigate housing-related challenges.

No prior housing counseling experience is required; training will be provided and HUD certification is supported. The position offers wage opportunities at $19/hour with a $1/hour bump upon HUD Certification, and occasional evening

Qualifications

• Experience in housing counseling or financial education is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to explain financial concepts clearly.
• Willing to obtain HUD Certification within four months of hire with support.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one counseling on homebuying, housing stability, budgeting, and credit.
• Help clients improve credit, reduce debt, and prepare for successful homeownership.
• Develop individualized budgets and action plans, and connect clients to community resources.
• Maintain client records per Horizons and HUD requirements.
• Help facilitate homebuyer education and financial workshops, and participate in community outreach.
