Job summary

City of Portland's Health & Human Services Department seeks a full-time Program Coordinator to oversee the Prevention & Diversion Team and the Homeless Outreach Engagement Team. This leadership role provides day-to-day direction, coordination, and oversight of programs serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness, and reports to the Social Services Division.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the area of human services, public health, or related field with supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Knowledge of program population issues, regions, and sectors related to specific programs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Google Workspace.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess a valid State of Maine Class C driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, support, and train staff.
• Coordinate team activities, schedules, and service deliveries to ensure effective outreach and prevention services.
• Build strong relationships with community organizations, service providers, and other community members.
• Represent social services programs and the City of Portland in meetings and events.
• Manage and monitor grant funded programs and other funding sources to ensure compliance with policies, contracts, and reporting requirements.
