Job summary

Global Textile Alliance (GTA) is seeking a creative and technically skilled Textiles & Surface Designer to join our Design team. This role will develop original artwork, prints, patterns, and surface designs for woven and knit textile products, with a strong focus on bedding and home textiles.

You will combine artistic vision with technical textile knowledge, transform licensed artwork, and develop concepts from concept through production.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional design experience in textiles or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Surface Design, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, or related discipline.
• Strong portfolio with surface patterns, prints, color development, and digital design.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Strong knowledge of color theory, pattern development, print repeats, scale, colorways, and pattern placement.
• Ability to produce clean, production-ready digital files.
• Excellent communication and collaboration, with ability to present ideas.
• Ability to learn new software and tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities

• Create original artwork, prints, patterns, motifs for home textile applications.
• Develop design concepts from briefs, market trends, and business objectives.
• Create and refine colorways, repeats, pattern scale, and placements for woven and knit products.
• Adapt licensed artwork into differentiated design concepts.
• Develop production-ready digital artwork using Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Create 2D and 3D textile renderings using 3DGO, EAT, or comparable software.
• Apply color theory and construction knowledge to design development.
• Participate in design reviews and present concepts.
• Collaborate across teams to develop cohesive product collections.
• Stay current with trends in textiles and home furnishings.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines with accuracy.
• Maintain organized digital files and production standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, and technology.
• Apply copyright, licensing, and IP practices.
