Job summary

Learning Care is seeking a Food Specialist, or Child Care Cook, to handle overall food preparation for the school’s enrolled children. The role requires adapting to menu changes while meeting meal and snack schedules.

You will create home-style, nutritious meals within the menu and budget, following USDA/licensing/health regulations, manage inventory, and assist in classrooms as needed. This is a hands-on role in a childcare setting.

Qualifications

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility.
• Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
• Flexibility as to the hours and schedule of work.

Responsibilities

• Create home-style, nutritional meal plans within the school's menu and budget, and prepare meals/snacks for children and staff; distribute food to classrooms.
• Follow the daily menu provided by the Director which incorporates USDA, licensing, and health department regulations.
• Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
• Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher/Floater.
