Job summary

UnitedHealth Group’s Deaconess Homecare division seeks a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to provide treatment and education under a supervising physical therapist. The role includes gait training, activities of daily living, and patient and family instruction across home care settings.

Applicants must be licensed, hold a valid driver’s license, be able to work a weekend rotation, and may be eligible for CPR certification within 90 days. Comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in state of practice.
• Current driver’s license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.
• Available to work a weekend rotation.
• Current CPR certification or ability to complete within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to perform physical tasks required for patient care, including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility.

Responsibilities

• Follow state-specific laws governing the provision of physical therapy in home care, follow the treatment plan defined by the supervising PT, and make recommendations for changes in the plan of care to the supervising PT.
• Instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, gait, functional activities, ADLs, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, record, and report patient response to treatment and changes to the supervising PT, nurse supervisor, or physician; coordinate care with the health care team.
• Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and other health care team members in therapy within the PT assistant scope.
