Job summary

Signature Healthcare at Home in NW Washington is seeking a PRN Physical Therapy Assistant to provide skilled services in Whatcom, Skagit and Island Counties. You will travel to patients' homes, with visits Monday through Friday daytime hours and flexible scheduling based on patient needs.

You will work under a physical therapist, perform exercises, utilize modalities, and document care. A CAPTE-accredited PTA program, Washington state license, and active BLS CPR are required; valid driver\'s

Qualifications

• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited PTA program and pass national exam.
• Must be licensed to practice in Washington State.
• Maintain active BLS CPR certification.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct physical therapy as directed by the supervising physical therapist and consistent with the plan of care.
• Treat patients to relieve pain, restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
• Lead patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional transfers.
• Utilize modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and massage as appropriate.
• Document patient progress and communicate changes to the physical therapist and the organization.

Job description

Signature Healthcare at Home is looking to add a PRN PTA to our service area in NW Washington! This position would provide physical therapy assistant services in Whatcom, Skagit and Island Counties on as-needed basis. Own your schedule! This position has flexible scheduling with visits Monday through Friday day shift, with self-directed scheduling dependent on patient needs and territory. If you enjoy a high level of autonomy, travel and meeting patients where they are.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provides direct physical therapy according to the directions of the physical therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care.

Treats patient to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.

Directs and aids patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfer activities and prosthetic training.

Utilizes physical agents, including, but not be limited to heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage.

Observes and reports to the physical therapist and the Organization personnel the patient’s reaction to treatment and any changes in patient’s condition.

Instructs patients in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.

Maintains necessary records; clinical notes and conference notes, which will be incorporated into the patient’s clinical record in prescribed time frames.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Have graduated from a Physical Therapy Assistant program approved by CAPTE and have passed a national examination for physical therapy assistants.

Must be licensed and able to practice in Washington State.

Must hold and maintain an active BLS CPR certification.

The ability to drive and/or have access to transportation for agency related travel (e.g. patients, community partners, etc.) is an essential function of the job.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, maintain automobile insurance coverage and have access to an automobile.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinicians with experience in Home Health or post-acute care.

Familiarity with Homecare Homebase EMR.

Schedule, Pay and Benefits

No set hours, flexible hours between Monday through Friday available, have ability to set own schedule.

Hourly $35 - 40/ hour + Mileage Reimbursement.
