Job summary

Medi Home Health Agency is seeking an experienced Full-Time Location Authorization Specialist for our Home Health team in Chesapeake, VA. The role focuses on payer verification and obtaining authorizations from Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers.

Responsibilities include confirming coverage, coordinating authorizations, monitoring expiration reports, and supporting the billing team with denial research to ensure timely services.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of customer service/medical billing/collections experience required.
• Thorough and working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial billing regulations and requirements.
• Experience with the technical aspects of electronic medical billing.
• Home health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verifies insurance for all patient payers.
• Contacts insurance companies and obtains authorization for home health services in a timely and accurate manner for payers requiring authorization.
• Runs the authorization expiration report on a daily basis.
• Assist the billing department with researching denials.
