Job summary

Community Council of South Central Texas, Inc. is seeking a Weatherization Assessor to perform home energy assessments and determine allowable energy-related repairs for single and multi-family units.

The role acts as a liaison between contractors and clients to track weatherization projects from assessment to completion. The candidate will conduct interviews, perform safety testing, and prepare comprehensive reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–3 years of building construction or weatherization experience preferred.
• OSHA card and EPA lead certification or willingness to obtain within 3 months.
• Willingness to work toward BPI QCI certification.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts home energy assessments for single and multi-family units to determine allowable energy-related repairs and improvements.
• Conducts applicant interviews to gather energy, health and safety information and heating issues.
• Performs testing protocols including pre-combustion appliance safety testing to ensure safety and CO levels.
• Completes walkthrough assessments to collect appliance and HVAC data.
• Uses diagnostic equipment (blower door tests, duct blaster, infrared cameras) to identify cost-effective weatherization measures.
• Prepares detailed house assessments/reports identifying work and energy efficiency measures.
• Develops cost estimates using contractor price lists.
• Assists in data entry into NEAT or MHEA and LIHEAP priority lists.
