Job summary

Good Shepherd Services is seeking a Family Worker to provide home-based supportive services and case management for Brooklyn families in the Transitions Brooklyn program. You will ensure child safety, stability, and family well-being while handling administrative duties to support the program.

The role requires a High School diploma, bilingual English/Spanish preferred, and proficiency in MS Office. Travel across Brooklyn for home visits is expected; non-exempt, 35 hours/week, $40,000-$45,000

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; some college preferred.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) required.
• At least one year of related experience with children or families preferred.
• Must be able to travel and conduct home visits throughout Brooklyn.
• Willingness to understand varied cultures and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Case Worker/Social Worker to conduct home/office visits.
• Link families to medical/mental healthcare, housing, childcare and public benefits.
• Accompany participants to meetings and appointments for education/medical purposes.
• Manage basic administrative tasks and update case records.
• Complete progress notes and reports in databases with accurate data.
• Greet visitors and respond to calls in reception area as needed.
• Attend trainings and share knowledge with staff and participants.
• Engage in crisis intervention to de-escalate and ensure safety.
• Make SCR reports when required for child safety concerns.
• Support use of casework and treatment models with families.
