Job summary

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is seeking a DSS Coach for Rocky Top Scholars to provide proactive academic support to students in a four-year cohort program.

The role focuses on helping students understand their strengths, set goals, and enhance well-being through coaching, time management, and referrals to campus resources. The candidate will maintain records and design resources to support UT student success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 1 year experience mentoring, coaching, or advising undergraduate or high school students.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized, group, and/or classroom coaching to students to support their academic, career, and/or personal development.
• Use strengths-based approaches to coach students in setting and achieving goals related to academic success, career exploration, and/or personal growth.
• Develop divisional coaching competencies and expertise in the assigned unit’s focus area.
• Utilize a strengths-based approach to empower students and support well-being.
• Manage caseload of students and conduct check-ins for ongoing support.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify students needing coaching support.
• Maintain accurate records of coaching sessions and student progress using university systems.
