Job Overview
Bigge Crane & Rigging Co. is looking for a Hoist Technician. This position requires flexibility with travel throughout the Florida area. The ideal candidate will have experience with 480V 3‑Phase, VFD, industrial controls with relays, breakers, mechanical switches, high‑voltage AC motors, and brakes. Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, repairs, and modifications of hoists.
- Work with the assembly, dismantling, and transportation of hoists.
- Read, interpret, and comprehend service manuals and manufacturers’ diagrams.
- Use computers to diagnose problems with electric and mechanical crane systems.
- Review problems and associated information, develop, and implement corrective actions.
- Resolve emergency breakdown situations and respond to after‑hours service calls as required.
- Ensure employer and customer‑specific safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Complete daily timesheets, inspection reports, and work orders.
- Maintain flexibility and understanding that all staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the needs and goals of the company.
Requirements
- Experience with servicing 480V/3‑phase electrical systems, including a working knowledge of electrical schematics and symbols.
- Skilled with diagnostics and troubleshooting complex electrical/electronic parts to component level.Knowledge and troubleshooting experience with PLC, three‑phase and AC/DC motors and drives.
- Experience with Alimak and Pega elevators is a plus.
- Good mechanical background.
- Motor control experience is an asset.
- Ability to take the initiative, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Professional certification is a plus.
- Evening, weekend, and out‑of‑town work will be required.
- Ability to climb, as needed.
- Travel up to 50%.
