Job summary

Glenview Park District in Glenview, IL is seeking a skilled part-time hockey instructor to teach developmental classes and progressively build youth league skills. You will conduct sessions safely and in accordance with governing bodies, collaborating with the Hockey Director and addressing attendance and lesson setup.

The role emphasizes engaging children, following rink rules, and updating families on sessions, with pay between $22 and $28 per hour and evening/weekend availability.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age.
• 8 years of skating experience.
• Knowledge of USA Hockey skills progression and ability to demonstrate the skills being taught.
• Must be team oriented and enjoy working with children.

Responsibilities

• Work with and communicate all aspects of hockey program with the Hockey Director.
• Prepare and maintain class attendance records.
• Assist with class lessons setup.
• Keep students and parents informed of activities and new sessions.
• Recommend class level for re-enrollment.
• Ensure all students receive equal amount of instruction.
• Follow all rink rules, policies, and procedures.
• Know emergency procedures for equipment and evacuation of building.
• Keep up to date with the latest hockey rules and skating trends.
• Provide strong leadership and innovative ideas to enhance the program.

JOB SUMMARY

The Glenvew Community Ice Center is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic instructor to teach developmental classes and skills progression to youth league players. This role is responsible for conducting classes in a safe and professional manner, and within all rules and regulations of Glenview Park District, GPD Hockey, USA Hockey, AAU and other governing bodies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:

• Working with and communicating all aspects of hockey program with the Hockey Director
• Preparing and maintaining class attendance records
• Assisting with class lessons setup
• Keeping students and parents informed of activities and new sessions
• Recommending class level for re-enrollment
• Ensure all students receive equal amount of instruction
• Following all rink rules, policies, and procedures
• Knowing emergency procedures for equipment and evacuation of building
• Keeping up to date with the latest hockey rules and skating trends
• Providing strong leadership and innovative ideas to enhance the program

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must be at least 16 years of age and have 8 years of skating experience. Knowledge of USA hockey skills progression and ability to demonstrate the skills being taught are required. Must be team oriented and enjoy working with children.

SCHEDULING & PAY

This is a part-time position. The instructor must have some evening and weekend availability based on seasonal schedule of developmental hockey, clinics and youth leagues. Able to attend seasonal training and staff meeting as required. Pay is commensurate based on prior teaching and skating experience ranging between $22-28/hour.
