Job summary

A veteran-led organization is seeking a qualified Hmong Reviewer/Editor/Certifier to support the Department of Justice with various linguistic services, including translation and interpretation. The role requires superior English skills, a minimum of five years of relevant experience, and a strong command of both formal and colloquial language. The position offers flexibility to work remotely within the National Capital Region and may require some travel.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the required language.
• Qualifying scores ILR 4 minimum or equivalent on language tests.
• Must have lived 3 of the last 5 years in the U.S.
• At least 1 year experience with a law enforcement or legal department.

Responsibilities

• Support DOJ with Translation, Interpretation, and Transcription.
• Translate legal and sensitive materials accurately.
• Maintain confidentiality and strict controls over sensitive materials.

Skills

Superior skills in English and editing

Knowledge of formal, legal, diplomatic, consultative, and casual communication

Proficient in Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools

Expertise in legal terminology

Education

5 years of experience in required language

U.S. citizenship
