Job summary

Optimal Staffing seeks a HLM D&R Engineer (Product Engineer) focused on exterior handles, locks, and mechanisms for vehicle closures. You will lead design, development, validation, release, and implementation of HLM components for doors, hoods, and tailgates, while driving cost and weight improvements.

Role requires a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and 2+ years in automotive design or release, with CATIA/Teamcenter proficiency and strong problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in design, development, or launch of automotive mechanisms.
  • Experience with automotive latching systems and vehicle closures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead HLM system design and delivery of regulatory, requirements, and design-rule outputs.
  • Manage HLM suppliers to meet program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets.
  • Understand GPDS and create plans to deliver on time.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate interfaces at vehicle level.
  • Release CAD and BOM in FEDEBOM and WERS throughout the product life cycle.
  • Develop and present technical analyses and design reviews.
