Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan is seeking a Design & Release Engineer for HLM systems to own the full lifecycle from concept to production launch. You will drive design, validation, and release of closure hardware such as handles, latches, and locks, ensuring safety and reliability across vehicle platforms.

You will lead cross-functional teams, apply GPDS, manage BOMs and changes, and coordinate with suppliers for program success, with on-site presence in Dearborn and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Proficiency with CAD and Product Lifecycle Management tools (CATIA, Teamcenter, 3DEXPERIENCE).
• 2+ years of engineering experience in the design, development, validation, or launch of mechanical products.

Responsibilities

• Lead HLM system design, development, and integration with cross-functional teams and suppliers, delivering closure hardware that meets program targets for quality, performance, safety, cost, mass, and timing.
• Apply Global Product Development System (GPDS) to plan, schedule, and execute engineering deliverables across every phase of the product development lifecycle.
• Release and manage engineering parts, BOMs, and engineering changes through Ford release systems (WERS, FEDEBOM, Teamcenter/3DX), maintaining structure and mass properties throughout the lifecycle.
• Define validation, durability, and functional test requirements per SDS, ES, and DVP, including slam durability and environmental exposure.
• Monitor production and field performance, diagnose issues, and implement running design changes with suppliers and plants to improve quality and cost.
