Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks a Specialty Laboratory Technologist (Histocompatibility) to join the Histocompatibility and Immunology Laboratory (HLA Lab). This role supports solid organ and bone marrow transplant programs by performing serological and molecular HLA testing to ensure optimal donor-recipient matches.

The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field; NYS technologist standards.
• 0–1 year experience in a clinical lab; Histocompatibility/Transplantation preferred.
• New graduates encouraged to apply; NYS license required or restricted histocompatility license.
• ASCP CHt/CHS preferred; ASHI CHt/CHS certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform serological and molecular HLA testing to support organ and bone marrow transplantation.
• Conduct HLA typing, crossmatching, antibody screening, and flow cytometry-based assays.
• Maintain quality control and calibration procedures; document results in LIS.
• Monitor inventories, ensure proper storage of reagents and samples.
• Collaborate with transplant coordinators, clinicians, and lab staff to ensure timely reporting.
