Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System in New York seeks a Specialty Laboratory Technologist (Histocompatibility) to join the Histocompatibility and Immunology Laboratory (HLA Lab). You will perform serological and molecular HLA testing to support solid organ and bone marrow transplantation.

The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, precision, and collaboration with transplant teams to ensure accurate donor-recipient matching and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, or a related field.
• 0–1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, preferably in Histocompatibility, Immunology, or Transplantation Lab.
• New graduates encouraged to apply.
• ASCP certification preferred.
• ASHI CHH or CHS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks.
• Performs serological and molecular HLA testing to support solid organ and bone marrow transplantation.
• Maintains instrumentation and performs preventive maintenance as needed.
• Performs QC and calibration procedures and documents results in LIS.
• Communicates critical results to supervising staff, clinicians, and nursing when required.
• Prioritizes work to meet test turnaround times and notifies supervisor of delays.
