Job summary

UofL Health, Inc. seeks a Histotechnologist for Jewish Hospital in Louisville to process, mount, cut and stain tissue sections. The candidate will help maintain lab standards, meet turn‑around times, and respect patient confidentiality.

Training and oversight of staff may be included. Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, at least one year of histology experience, and formal histotechnologist certification from ASCP/AMT or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in medical laboratory science or related field is required.
• Minimum one year of histotechnologist experience or equivalent.
• Certification as a Histotechnologist/MLS/MT from ASCP/AMT or other recognized body is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains readiness of frozen section, grossing space, and autopsy rooms.
• Monitors frozen section quality and turnaround time.
• Maintains adequate supply levels for department.
• May supervise lab assistants and assist with training and competency.
• Ensures proper labeling and completeness of specimens prior to transport.
• Collaborates with OR and other departments to meet submission requirements.
• Ensures compliance with hospital policies and HIPAA requirements.
• Performs tissue processing, staining, and troubleshooting as needed.
