Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Histotechnologist to process, mount, cut and stain tissue sections while ensuring turnaround times. The role supports the Pathology Manager and trainees, upholding patient confidentiality and lab standards.

Responsibilities include ensuring proper labeling, collaborating with OR and departments, and maintaining quality in all procedures. A Bachelor’s degree and appropriate certification are required; hospital compliance is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in medical laboratory science or related field (required).
• Minimum one year of lab experience as a Histotechnologist (preferred).
• Certification as Histotechnologist, Medical Technologist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP/AMT or equivalent (required).
• Knowledge of CAP standards and lab procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain readiness of frozen section, grossing space, and autopsy rooms.
• Monitor frozen section quality and turnaround times.
• Ensure specimens are properly labeled and transported as required.
• Provide training and guidance to lab staff, residents, and students as needed.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and hospital policies.
