Job summary

Yoh, a Day & Zimmermann company, is seeking a Histotechnologist II in Austin, TX to support a high-throughput diagnostic lab focused on thyroid FNA specimens. Strong hands-on histology, microtomy, and independence in a collaborative lab are required. HT/HTL certification preferred with 3-4+ years histology experience.

Core duties include slide preparation, staining, sample management, and quality control, with flexibility to meet lab needs and weekend coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 4 years of histology experience including microtomy and H&E staining.
• HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare microscopic slides for diagnostic purposes via processing, embedding, microtomy, and mounting.
• Train new personnel and perform competency assessments as needed.
• Reconciling specimens, tracking samples, and ensuring quality in pre-analytical steps.
• Perform and review routine H&E staining with quality control.
• Recut blocks per pathologist requests to meet turnaround time and quality.
• Maintain histology equipment and documentation according to SOPs.
