Qualifications

• Must enroll in HT/HTL ASCP program and obtain certification within one year or hire date.
• Alternatively, certified HT/HTL ASCP with 1 year of experience.
• Uncertified HT with 3+ years of experience may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Performs frozen section preparations with proper embedding, cutting and staining.
• Performs routine, special stains, and immunohistochemical stains.
• Recognizes deviations and uses judgment for actions.
• Assists with autopsies as assigned.
• Prepares and organizes tissue specimens for gross examination.
• Prepares specimens for testing at appropriate labs.
• Stores and disposes of specimens, slides, and blocks properly.
• Completes required daily procedures with accuracy.
