PathGroup, a leading diagnostic pathology lab in Chattanooga, TN, is seeking a Histotechnician (HT) to prepare human tissue for examination. You will embed, section, and stain tissues, perform special stains and IHC as directed, and support QA and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes strict adherence to safety protocols, accurate documentation, and efficient case assembly, with opportunities to contribute to the laboratory's quality program and patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Completed histology training (on-the-job or formal) is required.
• Continuing education for certification should be pursued if appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Embed all types of tissue.
• Section all types of paraffin embedded tissue.
• Follow set protocols and procedures for embedding and microtomy.
• Keep embedding area, microtome, and workstation clean and organized with QC.
• Maintain fresh solutions, stains and/or re-agents.
• Perform special stain and/or IHC procedures as directed.
• Assist with case assembly and distribution as needed.
• File blocks and slides as needed.
• Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
• Assist in documentation and maintaining QA programs and monitors.
• Exercise lab safety precautions and adhere to procedures.
• ProtectPHI and company data per Privacy and Security policies.

Education

High school diploma or GED
