Job summary

PathGroup in Overland Park, KS seeks a Histotechnician (HT) to prepare tissue samples for examination. The role involves embedding, microtomy, staining, and performing special stains and IHC as directed, while maintaining QA and safety standards.

Responsibilities include tissue embedding, sectioning, slide filing, and assisting with case assembly. Candidates should have HS diploma or GED and completed histology training, plus ongoing CE for certification as applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have completed on the job histology training or documented formal histology training.
• Maintains appropriate continuing education for certification if appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Embed all types of tissue.
• Section all types of paraffin embedded tissue.
• Follow protocols for embedding and microtomy.
• Maintain embedding area, microtome, and workstation cleanliness and QC.
• Maintain fresh stains and reagents.
• Perform special stains and/or IHC as directed.
• Assist with case assembly and distribution.
• File blocks and slides as needed.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
• Participate in QA programs and monitoring.
• Uphold safety and privacy procedures per manuals.
