Job summary

Baptist Health in Kentucky is seeking a Histotechnician to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination, staining, sectioning, and mounting under the supervision of a Pathologist. The role requires adherence to CLIA ’88 guidelines and ongoing quality control activities.

Additional duties may include clerical tasks, specimen collection, and related laboratory services. If not already HT certified, certification must be obtained within one year of eligibility, supporting our mission of

Qualifications

Completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program (within the last five years if not ASCP certified) or an Associate degree that includes 12 hours in both biology and chemistry.
At least 60 semester hours, including 12 hours biology and 12 hours chemistry, plus 1 year of histopathology clinical experience in the last five years.
Must obtain HT certification within 1 year of eligibility.

Responsibilities

Section, stain and mount tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist.
Assist the Pathologist in performing examinations on submitted tissue specimens and related preparations.
Perform quality control, quality assurance, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Duties may include clerical tasks, specimen collection, and related laboratory services.
