Job summary

Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED and completed histology training, with at least one year of histology lab experience and a commitment to safety and quality Program compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• On-the-job histology training or formal histology training completed.
• Continuing education for histology certification if appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Embed all types of tissue.
• Section all types of paraffin embedded tissue.
• Follow set protocols and procedures for embedding and microtomy.
• Maintain embedding area, microtome, and workstation clean and QC.
• Perform special stain and/or IHC procedures as directed.
• Assist with case assembly and distribution as needed.
• File blocks and slides as needed.
• Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
• Assists in documentation and maintaining department QA programs.
