Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a Histotechnician (HT) to prepare tissue samples for examination by embedding, sectioning, and related histology tasks. The role includes performing special stains and IHC procedures as directed, while maintaining clean workspaces and proper QA practices.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of histology lab experience, completed histology training, and a high school diploma or GED. Ongoing training and adherence to safety and compliance are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• On-the-job histology training or formal histology training completed.
• Maintains continuing education for certification if appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Embed all types of tissue.
• Section all types of paraffin embedded tissue.
• Follow protocols for embedding and microtomy.
• Keep embedding area, microtome and workstation clean and QC compliant.
• Maintain fresh solutions and stains/reagents.
• Perform special stains and/or IHC procedures as directed.
• Assist with case assembly and distribution as needed.
• File blocks and slides as needed.
• Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
• Support QA programs and monitoring in the department.
• Adhere to laboratory safety precautions and procedures.
