Job summary

Northwestern Medicine's Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL is seeking a Histotechnician for a full-time, 40-hour per week role on a first shift (Tue–Sat). You will perform routine histology, embeds, processes, and slides for microscopic review by a Pathologist, while maintaining accurate documentation and SOP adherence.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in biology or chemistry required or 60 semester hours with biology/chemistry credits (for ASCP exam eligibility).
• ASCP certifying exam eligibility is required by the CLIA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Performs cassette-log reconciliation and handles tissue processing per SOP.
• Embeds tissues and ensures proper block orientation and staining quality.
• Operates automated staining equipment and manual methods during downtimes.
• Maintains thorough documentation across LIS, cassettes, slides, and logs for regulatory compliance.
• Participates in laboratory occurrence management and safety activities.
