Job summary

PhyNet Dermatology LLC is seeking a Histotechnician I to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic diagnosis, performing grossing, embedding, and staining. The role emphasizes accuracy, quality control, and compliance within a clinical lab setting.

Responsibilities include proper labeling, documentation, instrument upkeep, and participation in QC programs. A degree in a chemical/biological science or medical lab technology is required, with relevant training provided.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in chemical or biological science, or medical laboratory technology.
• 60 semester hours (or equivalent), including 24 semester hours in medical laboratory technology, or 24 hours in science with chemistry/biology balance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination via grossing, embedding, sectioning, and staining (H&E, special stains, IHC).
• Ensure proper specimen identification, labeling, and documentation.
• Follow QC procedures to maintain accuracy and regulatory compliance; participate in proficiency testing.
• Operate and maintain histology equipment; report malfunctions.
• Identify and resolve workflow challenges to improve turnaround times and reduce errors.
• Handle and dispose of chemicals and reagents per safety standards; follow HIPAA and confidentiality rules.
