Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health seeks a Histotechnician for Springfield Regional Medical Center to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination and assist the Pathologist. The role includes accessioning, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining, ensuring timely, accurate lab results in a patient‑centered environment.

Education includes a High School Degree or GED and an Associate of Science; Histotechnician certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED required; AS degree preferred.
• HT certification preferred; not required.
• Histology experience preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy and staining.
• Assists pathologist in gross examination and frozen sections.
• Delivers accurate test results and maintains quality documentation.
• Operates histology equipment and manages supplies inventory.
• Adheres to safety and quality standards; supports team objectives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
