Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Histotechnician to process, embed, section, and stain tissue specimens for microscopic examination by a Pathologist. You will ensure specimens are logged and prioritized per standards and provide high-quality laboratory services under supervision.

You should have a High School Degree or GED and an Associate of Science. Histotechnician HT certification is preferred, with histology experience encouraged.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED is required.
• An Associate of Science degree is required.
• Histotechnician HT certification preferred.
• Histology experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform tissue processing, embedding, microtomy and staining.
• Assist Pathologist in gross examination and frozen sections.
• Report accurate and timely results to support patient care.
• Document issues affecting test performance and implement corrective actions.
• Operate and maintain histology lab equipment and tools.
• Monitor inventory and reorder supplies as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
