Job summary

ECU Health is seeking a Histotechnician to prepare surgical specimens for microscopic evaluation by pathologists. The role includes specimen accessioning, labeling, and maintaining logs; assisting with gross examination and frozen sections; and ensuring proper storage and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities also cover instrument maintenance, cryostat and processor operation, and specimen handling in a CAP/JCAHO compliant environment.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent with biology and chemistry coursework (12 semester hours total, including both disciplines).
• Alternatively, 5 years of lab experience or 3 years histology/cytology experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical specimens for microscopic examination and maintain specimen logs.
• Accession, label, and track specimens using lab computer system.
