Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is seeking a histology technician to join our team in La Grange, IL. You will perform tissue processing, embedding, staining, and immunohistochemistry, supporting pathologists with frozen sections and IHC testing.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equiv (Required)
• Associate's degree preferred
• HT ASCP certification required
• BLS certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Registers, accesses pathology specimens into computer systems.
• Performs specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and cover slipping.
• Maintains quality control and safety procedures in the histology lab.
• Follows safety policies and uses PPE and proper disposal of hazardous waste.
• Assists pathologists with frozen sections and specimen collection as needed.
