Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnician to join our San Diego, CA team. Work schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm, supporting histology processing and slide preparation for microscopic analysis.

The role requires histology experience, appropriate degrees, and comfort with lab safety, SOPs, and color-blindness testing. Labcorp offers a collaborative, high-volume lab environment in sunny San Diego.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment.
• Immunohistochemistry experience.
• Comfortable embedding both large and small specimens.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment.
• Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols.
• Able to pass a standardized color-blindness test.

Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnician to join our team in San Diego, CA.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm

Job Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam
• Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens
• Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide
• Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections
• Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures
• Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens
• Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments
• Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed
• Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies
• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting
• Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Histology or a High School diploma or equivalent with 1 or more years of histology experience

Preferred Qualification

• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• 2 years of experience as a histotechnician
• Histology and/or ASCP certifications

• Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
• Immunohistochemistry experience

• Ability to accurately read all labels and documentsHighly organized with a strong attention to detail
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment

Pay Range

• $36.00 - $41.00 per hour plus shift differential

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
