Job summary

Labcorp in Lakewood, CO is seeking a Histotechnician for a PRN/casual position with variable hours. You will process tissue samples, prepare histology slides, perform immunohistochemistry, and ensure accurate reporting of results to support patient care.

The ideal candidate has an Associate degree in Histology or a related Diploma with histology experience, plus familiarity with routine procedures and equipment. ASCP certification is preferred, and prior Labcorp experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• ASCP certification preferred.
• Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic exam.
• Produce histopathological slides of surgical specimens.
• Section embedded tissue with a microtome and mount on slides.
• Perform immunohistochemical tests on tissue sections.
• Process sections through routine and special staining procedures.
• Orient and embed surgical tissue specimens.
• Prepare stains and reagents for special procedures.
• Report accurate test results to support patient care.
• Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and log data.
• Document QC procedures and adhere to SOPs.
• Follow specimen handling, processing, analysis and reporting procedures.
• Document problems affecting test performance and take corrective actions.

LabCorp is seeking a Histotechnician to join our team in Lakewood, CO .

Work Schedule

This is a PRN/Casual position, hours will be “as needed”, start and end times can vary

Job Responsibilities

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam
• Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens
• Section the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slide
• Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections
• Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures
• Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens
• Prepare the stains and reagents needed for special procedures
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments
• Perform and document equipment maintenance as needed
• Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies
• Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reporting
• Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Histology or a High School diploma or equivalent with 1 year or more of histology experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Histology and/or ASCP certifications
• Current or prior Labcorp experience

Additional Job Standards

• Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
• Immunohistochemistry experience
• Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens
• Ability to accurately read all labels and documents
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment is desirable
• Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols
• Able to pass a standardized color vision screen

Pay Range: $25.00 – $42.00 per hour

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
