Job summary

U.S. Dermatology Partners is seeking a full-time histology/Mohs lab technician in Plano, TX. You will support diagnostic tissue evaluation, perform high and low complexity histology tasks, and contribute to immunohistochemistry where available.

The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and collaboration with pathology teams in a busy clinical setting. Responsibilities include embedding, sectioning, staining, coverslipping, and quality control across Mohs and pathology workflows.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic knowledge of medical billing coding, including CPT and ICD-10 coding.
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable.
• Management and organizational skills to support the leadership of this function.
• Ability to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with grammar and spelling accuracy.
• Interpersonal skills to support customer service, cross-functional teamwork.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Mathematical/analytical ability for problem solving.
• Basic to intermediate computer operation.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations, including HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized histopathological procedures in Mohs/Pathology labs.
• Handle high complexity testing including tissue mapping, grossing, and scoring.
• Conduct embedding, cryotomy, staining, and coverslipping.
• Perform immunohistochemistry staining where available.
• Process specimens for paraffin and cryostat workflows.
• Maintain lab/instrument logs and monitor instrument performance.
• Adhere to safety protocols and universal precautions.
• Assist in quality control and procedure evaluation.
• Prepare slides with proper labeling and storage.
• Support housekeeping and logistics within Mohs and pathology labs.
