York Prep School is seeking an Upper and Middle School History Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. The teacher will be responsible for teaching up to four sections of history and take on faculty duties as assigned. The History Teacher will report to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Humanities.

About the role

Responsibilities:

1. Teach up to four sections of history.
2. Develop a curriculum that balances pre-writing and writing skills, speaking practice, and cultural studies with connections to social justice and identity.
3. Prepare stimulating and differentiated lessons, oversee research projects, develop and grade assessments, and analyze student needs and strengths.
4. Utilize Judith Hochman’s Writing Revolution as a foundation for writing instruction.
5. Use our Learning Management System, Canvas, to assign, grade, and track student progress.
6. Support diverse learners using best practices of special education strategies and multi-modal teaching, especially for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and executive functioning disorders.
7. Assume faculty duties as assigned.
8. Participate in extracurricular activities through advising a club or team.
9. Adhere to all Safeguarding Policies to ensure student safety and wellbeing.
10. Collaborate with learning specialists, families, wellness teams, and administration to support student growth.
11. Maintain required work hours, including morning and afternoon Jump Start times (Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 1:40 p.m.).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in education, history, English, or related field.

Compensation: $65k - $85k annually
