Job summary

The Historical Interpreter I at Fort Fisher State Historic Site in New Hanover County, NC, conducts interpretive programs, tours, living history demonstrations, and special events, while assisting with artifact care, docent coordination, and visitor services.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of museum tour experience; a valid US driver’s license within 90 days may be required. Sign-on bonus up to $1,500 is offered; salary range is $31,200–$40,000 per year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus two years of museum tours experience.
• Experience giving tours in a museum or historic site setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of living history interpretation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate school group and general tours.
• Conduct visitor services including guided tours and living history demonstrations.
• Assist with event planning, logistics and rentals.
• Research topics, support exhibits and maintain site upkeep.
