Job summary

County of Bucks is seeking a Program Assistant for Historic Properties to support visitor services and public programming at historic sites. The role involves aiding in readiness, maintenance, and preservation, plus assisting with tours and site rentals.

The position requires weekend hours and some evenings, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver’s license. Candidates should have strong communication skills and an interest in American history.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Excellent communication and conversation skills.
  • Ability to facilitate interactive tours and activities.
  • A positive, polite and professional attitude.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn about American history and lifeways.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the initial source of information and support to visitors of the properties.
  • Assist the Historic Properties Manager in the implementation of programs, activities, and special events.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for visitors.
  • Conducts engaging tours on and about the historic buildings and grounds.
  • Provides previews to potential site renters.
  • Assists in collection care under supervision.
  • Assists with general administrative and clerical work.
  • Responsible for light housekeeping duties to help maintain the historic buildings.
  • Responsible for light grounds work (planting, weeding and hedge trimming) of historic property grounds.
