Job summary

Maymont Foundation in Richmond, Virginia, seeks a full-time Educator to deliver environmental and historical programming across the grounds, Mansion, and gardens. Reporting to the Manager of Education, this role emphasizes engaging learners of all ages and upholding Maymont standards.

The position involves planning, delivering, and evaluating programs, collaborating with staff, and supporting community outreach and fundraising activities as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in non-formal teaching or related educational setting.
• Experience with school-age children and familiarity with Virginia SOLs.
• Associate’s degree in history, museum studies, education, biology, environmental science, science education, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, schedule, and implement educational programs with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Prepare and coordinate resources for education and outreach programs; align with learning standards.
• Facilitate in-person and virtual programs at Maymont Mansion and outdoor gardens.
• Provide animal care for education animals under supervision.
• Collect evaluations and attendance for reports.
• Represent education at meetings and collaborate with other departments.
• Engage with public speaking engagements and events as needed.
• Support community and fundraising events; perform other duties as assigned.
