Job summary

Pecos National Historical Park in Pecos, NM seeks a Field Unit Local (FUL) Masonry Worker to perform maintenance, repair and rebuilding of historic masonry surfaces and structures. The position supports seasonal/permanent schedules with on-call and shift work.

Candidates should have experience with mortar, adobe blocks, period stucco and safe operation of masonry tools; successful applicants will be subject to a probationary review and agency performance evaluation.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform masonry tasks including maintenance, repair, and construction of brick, block, adobe, stone surfaces and structures.
• Skilled in interpreting instructions, specs, and blueprints.
• Ability to measure, layout and lay out courses accurately.
• Proficient in preparing and applying mortar with even distribution and thickness.
• Knowledge of materials used in historic masonry and period-accurate stucco applications.
• Maintain tools and safety practices while working at historic sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform masonry maintenance, repair, and construction on historic structures and sites.
• Prepare and apply mortar for even distribution and proper thickness.
• Construct adobe blocks to historically accurate specifications and apply period stucco as required.
• Operate and maintain masonry hand and power tools safely.
