Job summary
Children's National Hospital is seeking a Histopathology Technologist to process, embed, cut and stain tissue blocks in accordance with established procedures and policies. The role requires careful handling of surgical and autopsy specimens and accurate documentation of workflow.
The candidate should have a high school diploma, at least 1 year of histopathology experience, and ASCP/ASHT certification is preferred.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least 1 year experience in an accredited clinical laboratory in Histopathology.
- ASCP or ASHT certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Immuno-Histochemistry (IHC) and Enzyme Histochemistry: perform IHC assays incl. IF, validations, QA/QC, surveys, equipment PM, R&D and duties as assigned.
- Technical Performance: process, embed, cut, stain and mount tissue sections; prepare reagents and verify instrument operation.
- Quality Control: prepare staining solutions; maintain control sections; document actions and logs; ensure specimen identity.
- Assist residents/pathologists in fresh/frozen sections and rapid slide preparations as required.
