Job summary

RWD Consulting, LLC seeks a Histopathology Technologist to perform processing, embedding, sectioning and staining for pathology materials.

The role requires five years in a histology lab, ASCP HT certification, and strong knowledge of tissue morphology, staining, and QC procedures. This on-site position offers competitive salary and benefits, with a 3:00 pm–11:30 pm shift in Maryland.

Qualifications

Five years’ work experience in a histology laboratory.
Current ASCP HT certification or equivalent.
Knowledge of procedures for optimal tissue sectioning.
Knowledge of tissue morphology to identify tissue type and embedding/sectioning/staining.
Knowledge of training others and assisting residents.
Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Basic computer skills.
Must be Citizen.

Responsibilities

Carry out processing, embedding, sectioning and staining for histopathology specimens.
Operate processors, embedding stations, automated strainers, microtome, cryostats and related equipment.
Perform microtomy/cryotomy to produce high-quality sections.
Set up procedures for frozen and paraffin sections or touch preparations.
Demonstrate fixation, dehydration and infiltration theory in practice.
Perform all aspects of microtomy and slide prep for routine histology, special stains, and IHC.
Knowledge of embedding in paraffin and bone tissue handling.
Perfom decalcification of bone using acids and fixatives.
Perform special stains and IHC with appropriate QC and inventory management.
Keep accurate records and file tissue blocks and slides.
Repair damaged slides.
