A leading gastroenterology practice in Cypress, Texas, is seeking an Experienced Histopathology Technician to join their in-house pathology team. Responsibilities include processing GI and liver biopsy specimens, performing special stains, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in histopathology, a relevant degree, and strong attention to detail. Qualifikationen

• Minimum of 2 years in a histopathology or surgical pathology laboratory.
• ASCP certification (HT or HTL) preferred.
• Familiarity with CLIA and CAP requirements strongly preferred.
• CLIA and CAP requirements familiarity strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years in a histopathology or surgical pathology lab; GI/hepatology experience desirable.

Aufgaben

• Accession, label, and process GI and liver biopsy specimens.
• Perform gross examination assistance, embedding, and slide preparation.
• Operate and maintain all histology instruments.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain histology instruments (microtomes, embedding centers, stainers).
• Maintain QC/QA records in CLIA/CAP/OSHA compliance.
• Prepare and monitor reagent inventories, equipment logs, and maintenance schedules.
• Ensure proper specimen identification and chain of custody for diagnostic accuracy.
• Collaborate with pathologists, gastroenterologists, and lab director to optimize workflow.
• Participate in CLIA inspections, documentation reviews, and process improvements.

We specialize in gastrointestinal and liver disorders, providing precision diagnostics that guide personalized care.

We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Experienced Histopathology Technician to join our in‑house pathology team. The ideal candidate will have experience in GI tissue processing, special stains, and CLIA/CAP compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Accession, label, and process GI and liver biopsy specimens according to laboratory SOPs.
• Perform gross examination assistance, embedding, microtomy, and slide preparation.
• Execute routine and special stains (H&E, PAS, Giemsa, Trichrome, Alcian Blue, Iron, etc.) with precision.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain all histology instruments (microtomes, embedding centers, stainers).
• Maintain quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) records in compliance with CLIA, CAP, and OSHA standards.
• Prepare and monitor reagent inventories, equipment logs, and maintenance schedules.
• Ensure proper specimen identification and chain of custody for diagnostic accuracy.
• Collaborate closely with pathologists, gastroenterologists, and the lab director to optimize workflow and turnaround times.
• Participate in CLIA inspections, documentation reviews, and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related biological field.
• Certification:
  • ASCP certification (HT or HTL) preferred; eligibility or equivalent experience considered.
  • Familiarity with CLIA and CAP requirements is strongly preferred.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years in a histopathology or surgical pathology laboratory.
  • Prior experience in GI or hepatology specimen processing highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of tissue fixation, embedding, microtomy, and staining principles.
• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to maintain documentation accuracy.
• Self‑motivated with strong communication and time management skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with digital pathology workflows or slide scanning systems.
• Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) for accessioning and reporting.
• Familiarity with IHC and molecular ancillary testing processes.
• Knowledge of biosafety, reagent handling, and internal audits.
