Job summary

Tidelands Health in Georgetown, SC seeks a Histotechnologist Trainee to join a structured six‑month program developing competency in tissue fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining using H&E and special techniques under supervision.

Training also covers advanced histology, IHC, quality control, and departmental workflows, with advancement to Histotechnologist I after completing requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in a clinical laboratory, healthcare setting, or science-related environment preferred.
• Demonstrated excellence in customer service and strong analytical skills.
• Proficiency with computers; EPIC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedding and microtomy skills under direct supervision.
• Assist with routine H&E staining, coverslipping, and slide preparation.
• Learn tissue fixation, processing principles, and documentation of runs.
• Assist with specimen receipt, labeling, and tracking while maintaining chain-of-custody requirements.
• Support immunohistochemistry and special stains as assigned.
