Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate of science degree in a NAACLS-accredited histology technician program or a two-year AS degree with 60 sem hours including 12–18 chemistry/biology.
• One year of LSA experience in a high complexity Histology laboratory or 1+ year related histology experience.
• ASCP Histotechnologist Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and embed tissue in paraffin and cut blocks with microtomes.
• Prepare and stain tissue using routine and special stains.
• Cover slips and evaluate stain quality microscopically.
• Maintain equipment and supply inventories.
• Keep work area clean per hospital protocols.
• Participate in inter-shift coverage for time off and holidays.
• Prepare slides and blocks with patient identification.
